PedWest Temporarily Closed Again

Just a few days after reopening, the PedWest border crossing was closed down again in order to process the high level of migrants in the region. CBP officers are needed to assist Border Patrol agents in processing migrants who are arriving at various spots along the border fence. This is the second temporary closure of PedWest in the past year. There is currently no date for an expected reopening.

FMMs from Discover Baja

Discover Baja is not able to issue any FMMs for stays in Mexico longer than 7 days as the Mexican bank site has been inoperable since February of 2023. You should plan to obtain your 180-day FMM at the border when you are crossing into Mexico where you will complete the form and then make your payment for the FMM. If you will be in Mexico for 7 days or less, we are able to complete the form in advance for you for a fee of $10. Please call us at 800-727-2252 for questions or more information.

Hilton to Open Property in La Paz

La Paz’s historic Hotel La Perla in downtown along the malecón has been undergoing a $10 million renovation. The 90-room hotel will reopen at the beginning of 2024 as a Hilton property.

Construction Along Tijuana’s Avenida Internacional

Avenida Internacional, the main freeway for accessing Tijuana’s San Ysidro border crossing, is currently under construction and partial closure as they build an elevated road. One lane of traffic will remain open in each direction as they work. The construction is expected to last into the middle of 2024. If you want to avoid Avenida Internacional all together, you can take Calle Segunda through town to reach the border.
