Mexico Ends Daylight Savings Time

Mexico’s Senate voted to end Daylight Savings Time for most of the country. The area along the border with the United States (which includes the state of Baja California) will not be affected and will continue to change its clocks twice a year. But the rest of Mexico (including the state of Baja California Sur) changed its clocks for the last time on October 30.

Boat TIPs Now Require Registration

In order to get a Temporary Importation Permit (TIP) for taking a boat into Baja, you are now required to have the boat registration (previously the title or bill of sale was sufficient). For more information, please visit our TIPs page.

Discover Baja Office Appointments

A reminder that Discover Baja is open for business Monday-Friday 9am-5pm. We are handling almost everything by phone and email. The office is open for walk-ins by appointment only. Please call ahead of time. Appointments are usually available between 10am and 4pm Monday through Thursday.  

Crossing at Mexicali

If you are going to cross at Mexicali, we recommend you use the Mexicali WEST crossing rather than the Mexicali East crossing. We’ve had numerous reports of travelers having problems with the police when using the Mexicali East crossing.

Harry Crosby Documentary Now Streaming

“The Journeys of Harry Crosby,” a documentary about the iconic Baja photographer and author, is now available on the PBS video app. The app is free and can be downloaded on any device. You can learn more information about the film and streaming it on the PBS website. The film will also be showing this month at the Cabos Film Festival.

Crossing the Border with Boat Motors

A reminder that boat motors must be attached to the boat when crossing south over the border into Mexico. Otherwise you will be charged an importation tax on the motor.

Corazón de Vida’s San Diego Noche de Gala

Corazón de Vida, will be hosting their San Diego “Noche de Gala,” a Great Gatsby themed gala on Saturday, November 12th.
