Hotel Serenidad

Hotel Serenidad in Mulegé is currently closed as the local Ejido has taken over the property and kicked out all employees and guests. The Johnson family, who has owned the hotel for over 70 years, is working to settle the dispute and hope to have the hotel open again soon. Rosarito’s 140th Anniversary

Playas de Rosarito just celebrated 140 years since its founding, the legal registration of Rancho El Rosarito. It was May 14, 1885, that Don Joaquín Machado officially entered Rancho El Rosario into the Public Registry, marking a turning point in the history of the region. However, Rosarito’s history began much earlier, with the Kumeyaay people who inhabited the region for over three thousand years, calling the area Huacatay and serving as its first guardians. In 1995, Playas de Rosarito became its own official municipality (the fifth of Baja California).

These signals alert people to sea conditions and can make the difference between a safe day and an emergency.

Black flag: Beach closed
Red flag: Beach is very dangerous due to currents or high waves
Yellow flag: Beach is moderately dangerous, enter with caution
Green flag: Optimal conditions for swimming
White flag: Presence of jellyfish
