February 2019 Baja Bulletin

Discover Baja has Mexican Fishing Licenses in Stock

We have yearly, monthly, weekly, or daily Mexican fishing licenses available (for members and non-members). If you are unable to come into the office or have your fishing license mailed to you, we can scan and email you the license. For pricing and more information, please visit our Fishing License page.

Super Saver Annual Insurance Policies

One of the biggest benefits of being a Discover Baja member is having access to our annual “super saver” Mexican auto insurance policies. These polices are good for a full calendar year if you spend less than 120 days out of the year in Mexico and generally save members around $100 when compared to a full 365-day annual policy. If you spend more than 20 days a year in Baja, the “super saver” policies will be cheaper than buying daily policies as they start at $102.74 for travel in Baja California norte and $119.19 for travel along the full peninsula. These policies are only available for Discover Baja members! Learn more or get a quote

Now Offering Full Coverage Insurance on ATVs

Discover Baja can now offer full coverage Mexican auto insurance up to $30,000 on ATVs for riding and storage. A reminder that no Mexican auto insurance policies will cover riding on sand dunes or off-roading. All dirt roads must lead to a destination in order for insurance to be valid.

Gas Available Throughout Baja Peninsula

Despite gas shortage issues in mainland Mexico, gas and diesel fuel are available throughout the Baja peninsula.

There are 6-7 bridges that are damaged and impassable as well as some washouts, but there are detours set up. Towing is not currently recommended. Lake Chapala to Gonzaga Bay is open and passable.
