February and March are prime months for gray whale watching in Baja! Every winter the gray whales migrate to three lagoons in Baja Sur – Laguna de Ojo Liebre, Laguna San Ignacio, and Bahía Magdalena. Whale watchers can go out in pangas with registered tour operators to have up-close-and-personal experiences with the gray whales in the wild. If you want to join an all-inclusive whale watching trip from San Diego, check out the trip by Baja Custom Tours with Graham Mackintosh from February 15-22. For more information on visiting the gray whales in Baja, visit our Guide to Gray Whale Watching in Baja.

Bancomer ATM Troubles

Bancomer ATM machines in Baja have been having problems allowing foreign debit cards to withdraw cash. The Bancomer ATMs in towns such as Mulegé, Loreto, Los Barriles, and Todos Santos have been unreliable, sometimes allowing customers to withdraw money and other times not. It’s best to get out extra pesos when in larger towns with banks/ATMs other than Bancomer.
