Our
recent check of PEMEX prices (in El Rosario courtesy of Antonio
with Baja Cactus) indicated the following:
Updated March 2008
Magna:
Aproximately $2.38 Dlls/gallon
Premium:
Aproximately $ 2.97 Dlls/gallon
Diesel:
Aproximately $2.01 Dlls/gallon
Note: PEMEX (Petróleos Mexicanos), Mexico's state-owned, nationalized
petroleum company, regulates and standardizes the prices for its
petroleum products. Stations in areas bordering the United States
are, however, allowed some flexibility in adjusting prices to compete
with U.S. gas prices.
We recommend always paying for gas in pesos. Making the gallon-to-gallon
and peso-to-dollar conversions can be confusing, since the price
will be expressed in pesos per liter, and change will invariable
be given in pesos when payment was in made in dollars. Unfortunately
a few unscrupulous gas attendants will also short change the buyer.
If the pump reads 375 pesos for your tank of gas and you pay the
attendant 400 pesos, you know he owes you 25 pesos in change. Simple,
if you pay in pesos.
